At Weave Coworking, our mission goes beyond providing desks and WiFi. We’re here to help people grow. That’s why we were delighted to recently host a Skills Development Session in partnership with GM Business Growth Hub, welcoming entrepreneurs, freelancers, and local professionals into our coworking space in Wigan for a day of learning, conversation, and collaboration.
The session gave attendees the chance to experience coworking at Weave for the day — on us — while accessing expert advice designed to support stronger skills and business growth going into 2026.

A Day of Coworking and Skills Support
The event welcomed members of the Weave community alongside local business owners and individuals who were curious about coworking. Many joined us to try our coworking space in Wigan for the first time, enjoying the atmosphere, facilities, and sense of community that make Weave different.
Alongside this, Workforce Development Specialists and Skills Coaches from GM Business Growth Hub were on hand for informal chats over refreshments. These conversations focused on real-world challenges businesses face and how targeted skills development can improve performance, confidence, and growth.
It was a relaxed, welcoming day that reflected exactly what Weave Coworking is about — learning together, sharing ideas, and supporting one another.
What GM Business Growth Hub Offered
The Skills Development Service from GM Business Growth Hub is designed to help organisations, individuals, and volunteers build the skills they need for the future. Thanks to investment from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), this support is fully funded and available to businesses across the region.
During the session at our coworking space in Wigan, the team explained their simple three-step approach:
- Understand your goals and skills needs
- Create a bespoke skills development plan
- Match you with the right training provider
The training focuses on key workplace skills, including Communication, Budgeting, Digital skills, ESOL, and AI. With over 70 fully funded training options now available, attendees left with clear next steps and a real sense of opportunity heading into 2026.

Why Events Like This Matter
Hosting sessions like this is a big part of what makes Weave Coworking more than just a coworking space in Wigan. Our members don’t just come here to work — they come here to grow.
By partnering with GM Business Growth Hub, we can bring expert support directly into the workspace. That means less time searching for help and more time acting on it. It also means our community can access opportunities that genuinely make a difference to their businesses and careers.
The feedback from the day was clear. People value being able to learn, connect, and work in one place.
Looking Ahead to 2026
With a funding deadline of 31st January 2026, now is the time to explore skills development opportunities. The recent session showed just how powerful it can be when business support meets a strong local community.
If you’re looking for a coworking space in Wigan that offers more than a desk — one that connects you to support, training, and real opportunities — Weave Coworking is the place to be.
